Sticky Please!!!!!!
So, You want to make a sprite comic?
Chances are, you have no idea what you are doing.
So, here to guide you is your friendly neighborhood Comic-maker, Crystalman.EXE!
So let's begin!
PART 1
Your Idea
here are some questions you need to ask yourself:
1. What sprites am I using?
2. When does this comic Take place?
3. Who are the main characters of the comic?
4. Who is the enemy?
5. What is the comic about?
6. What is the story?
Answer those, and if you can't, then you need to re-think your comic.
PART 2
Making your comic
So, You have an Idea, time to put it on Pixels. Use "Paint". It's simple, easy, and WORKS. So don't go buying a 600$ photoshop program, just to make comics.
1. Gather the sprites you need.
Check out these sites:
Sprites INC
Backround Headquaters (BGHQ)
Sprites INC is a major archive of MEGA MAN Sprites. Very impressive too.
BGHQ is the best place to get backrounds.
Use those sites to get the sprites you need to pull off your comic.
2. Make a frame.
Wether it is 4 panels, 8 panels, 6 panels, and even 10 panels, choose your size and shape. Make a Frame made out of Black Lines. (between 1-6 pixels wide)
Try to keep the individual Panels Square, and try to keep the overall width under 800.
Panels sizes are usually 200x200, 150x150, or 100x100. (pixels) But yours can be any size you want. But in order to fit text and sprites, try to go between 100x100 and 200x200. Anything beyond 200 will stretch the screen, and make it harder to read the comic.
3. Add Backrounds.
Try to avoid One tone, or two tone backrounds. (a floor and wall) if you use game backrounds, it looks fairly good, just try to use appropriate ones. Don't have Mega Man in a beach outfit on top of a mountain. XD
Add you backround by copy/pasteing ONE EMPTY PANEL onto the backround where you want it seen, then copy/pasting the panel and the backround inside it. (but not outside it!) onto the comic. Lather, rinse, repeat.
4. Add Characters
Copy/paste your sprites into their spots, but keep these things in mind:
Consistancy: Try to not have a sprite suddenly be several pixels lower in a panel then the previous one, make it look real.
Movement: Change the sprites up, 2 people just sitting there talking without moving gets boring real fast.
5. Text
The final part! So add some text, but how?
Type your text, then surround it with a bubble.
Then, depending on how your doing your text, for filled bubbles (like mine) fill the area around the bubble with another color, then select it as a secondary color in paint, then move the bubble onto the comic. For unfilled bubbles, just move it up onto the comic.
So there you go, a mediocre sprite comic guide. Enjoy.
