PMB you forgot about secondary color. In paint, at the bottom left of your of your paint you should see 2 boxes. The box that is partly covered is your secondary color. If you did what PMB did and you want to get rid of the black around a sprite then you change your secondary color. Your secondary color can be changed by using your right click on a color.

now how do i replicate the designs for sprites. . .for the spritesheets. . .like head turning and such

If the sprite is turning it's head, you probally have to scratch the head yourself. If he's not turning his body or doing anything with his body then you can probally C+P the body for each frame.
